Watch It Now! One Step Beyond (1959–1961) Season 1

From IMDB: Produced at the same time as the more well-known Twilight Zone, this series fed the nation's growing interest in paranormal suspense in a different way. Rather than creating fictional stories with supernatural twists and turns, this program sought out 'real' stories of the supernatural, including ghosts, disappearances, monsters, etc., and re-creating them for each episode. No solutions to these mysteries were ever found, and viewers could only scratch their heads and wonder, "what if it's real?"

  1. I don't think my mother knew what she was doing when she dropped me in front of a black and white Zenith TV, switched it on, and went off to clean the basement for their next "Beatnik" party. Since I was so quiet I must be happily entertained by whatever was showing on the big box with the black and white moving images. Had she known my quiet nature was not due to watching Lassie but due to being frozen in terror watching a movie that to this day still creeps into the black recesses of my memory. It terrified me, but I could not stop watching. It was thrilling! I didn't cry. I didn't call out. I watched with eyes wide open, and it planted a seed. One Step Beyond, Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, Creature Double Feature--I couldn't get enough and still can't. Thank you for bringing back One Step Beyond--it's incredible I can still recall some of the stories--ie Titanic and Michael Campion--albeit I was only 6 years old at the time. I look forward to reading more of your site. Horror isn't just a chainsaw or a knife. Oh, and the movie that terrified that very little girl on a Saturday morning was "Invaders from Mars." Still available to watch and still very entertaining. Remember to always check the back of the neck and stay away from little bridges that lead to a sandy pit!
